ONE BIG WEEKEND
Client: Radio 1
Agency: Kinetic Belfast
In 2013 BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend came to the city of Derry/Londonderry. The festival brought some of the biggest names in UK and worldwide music to perform at the recently opened event space at the site of the former Ebrington Barracks.
The event space at Ebrington is a large public square and Image Zoo was tasked with specifying and installing event branding at key locations here and throughout the city.
Working very closely with Radio One advertising agency, media specialist, Derry City & Strabane Council, ILEX and key stakeholders we developed a targeted campaign, with a creative media execution. Site surveys of the areas were conducted to establish visitor access and cluster points, and these formed the basis for the city dressing strategy.
Selected sites included: Ebrington Barracks, Craigavon Bridge, Foyle Embankment, Guildhall Square, The Diamond, Foyle Street steps leading to the Millennium Forum, Peace Bridge, Queen’s Quay and Waterloo Place.
Each location required a bespoke branding solution consisting of a different size / material specification. This necessitate coordinating multiple suppliers/contractors.
